Reading as Senior Designer

Change lens

Senior Designer

JASON WALKER

Choose a hiring lens

Carry the idea through the details that make it believable.

I bring senior craft, systems thinking and broad production range to work that has to survive contact with the real world. I can move from concept and visual language into typography, identity, illustration, interaction and production while protecting the reasoning that made the direction right.

01Craft

Craft is judgment made visible.

Practice

How I build the work

Strong execution does not decorate the idea. It resolves the idea through hierarchy, form, rhythm, interaction and detail.

Find the governing idea.

Before refining the surface, understand the decision the design must make visible.

Build hierarchy before decoration.

Typography, scale, sequence and space should tell the reader what matters before style asks for attention.

Create unity with room for variation.

A system should make the family recognizable without making every expression identical.

Move across tools and disciplines.

Design, illustration, interaction, prototyping and production are different ways of resolving the same communication problem.

Use constraints to clarify.

Time, format, technology and production limits should sharpen the solution rather than excuse unresolved work.

02Ten ideas deep

The first answer is familiar.

The tenth is where creation begins.

Outcomes

Selected design outcomes

The work below shows senior design operating across identity, systems, campaigns, editorial, interaction and production.

  1. Experiments in Form and Force

A continuing practice of formal exploration.

A selected wall of identities, images and studies kept because they still hold up, widened the range or changed how the work is understood.

  2. Cut from the Same Cloth

Type and icon derived from one formal grammar.

A typography and icon unification built on the same reasoning, so both read as related by construction rather than by applied color.

See the work (Cut from the Same Cloth)
  3. The Healing Church

Editorial hierarchy, identity and image for difficult material.

An identity, book and campaign directed toward equipped care, giving church leaders a credible invitation that carried gravity without letting shame control the experience.

  4. PadSplit

A speculative campaign joining architecture, typography and aspiration.

Modular architecture, typography and customer aspiration brought together in one campaign system.

    See the work (PadSplit)
  5. Colossal Man

A character system across film, animation, game and comic.

Superhero mythology made accountability memorable while preserving the customer’s dignity.

  6. Brand Systems

    Visual principles as reusable decisions.

Type, color, form, motif, iconography and interface governed by one grammar, so people across brands and formats could make coherent decisions.

Experience

Where the responsibility was carried

Fractional Marketing Leader

Radiant Mobile

Remote · May–June 2026

A short fractional engagement with America’s first Christian mobile wireless service. I led positioning, messaging, onboarding and lifecycle strategy, translated the network technology into language customers could understand, and began building the company’s first integrated marketing operating system.

  • Turned a differentiated network capability into a position customers could understand.
  • Designed the company’s first integrated marketing operating system, connecting workstreams to ownership, reporting and the customer journey.
  • Used AI-assisted workflows to accelerate research, comparison, writing and system development, with every output judged and released by a person.

Director of Creative Marketing

Covenant Eyes

Remote / Owosso, Michigan · 2018–May 2026

Creative and brand leadership inside an enterprise SaaS company, across eleven years with the company (2015–May 2026). In its first Creative Director role, I resolved a four-year strategic deadlock, led the 2020 Covenant Eyes rebrand, and went on to lead the 2025 Victory brand strategy and the portfolio architecture organizing Covenant Eyes, Victory, Five Stones and the supporting content brands.

  • Developed identities and visual systems across the company and its product brands: typography, color, form, motif, iconography and interface.
  • Designed editorial and typographic work, including the book design for The Healing Church.
  • Executed campaign and production work from concept through final release across print, digital, film and live channels.
  • Contributed illustration, film and interaction design alongside identity work.
  • Built the Victory identity system so its form carried the strategy rather than decorating it.
  • Built reusable systems that made the work repeatable without reducing its craft.

Learning

The practice keeps moving

I continue studying typography, systems, interaction, illustration and emerging tools because senior craft depends on both accumulated judgment and active curiosity.
