About The Willpower Game Campaign

In 2021, we needed to help customers understand the futility of relying on willpower to quit porn.  This is a big story that needed an entertaining hook to hold attention. I’d see banners and recently read about interactive ads as methods of capturing and holding attention. Using 8-bit graphics, we generated a single level of a video game with one and two player modes that illustrated the difference between trying to quit porn alone, and through an accountability relationship.

Insight 1:

Customers tend to believe that they can quit porn on their own using willpower, only to fail repeatedly. We needed to help them understand the futility of willpower centric solutions.

Insight 2:

The story that needs to be told is too big for an ad, or conventional informative content. To hold attention for the time it takes to deliver insight #1, we must use an entertaining and story driven method of capturing attention.

Strategy:

Develop an interactive experience that allows the customer to understand the contrast between a single willpower driven recovery journey and a relationship fueled recovery journey.
